ADEPT Completes Tourism Impact Study for the City of Key Colony Beach Pickleball Facility Project
The City of Key Colony Beach tapped ADEPT to conduct an Independent Professional Tourism Impact Study to analyze how the City of Key Colony Beach Pickleball Court Facility will impact tourism-related business in the City of Key Colony Beach and Monroe County, Florida.
This study is a requirement under Florida law for grant agreements between the Monroe County Tourist Development Council (TDC) and the City of Key Colony Beach, Florida. The mission of the Monroe County TDC is to promote long-term economic stability and enhance quality of life for Monroe County residents by safeguarding the health of Monroe County's tourism industry.
The project calls for the construction of two tennis courts and six pickleball courts at 7th and 8th Street Parks. The Project includes construction of two tennis courts with fencing, converting 8th Street tennis courts to six pickleball courts with fencing, as well as excavation, rock base, and compaction. It also includes all surface painting and nets.
The overall Facility project includes the materials, equipment, permits and labor required for the following tasks:
Constructing double tennis courts
Installing fencing at those tennis courts
Installing tiki hut at tennis courts
Installing permanently affixed drinking fountain and benches
Resurfacing and painting pickleball surface on old tennis courts
Installing fencing for expanded pickleball courts
Installing posts for pickleball nets
Producing design plans/engineering
In conclusion, ADEPT determined that the City of Key Colony Beach Pickleball Court Project will very likely increase visitation to the project area along with demand for hotel, short-term rental, or other lodging accommodations. It is ADEPT's professional opinion that the City of Key Colony Beach Pickleball Facility Project will have a positive impact on tourism and tourist related business activities in the City of Key Colony Beach and Monroe County, Florida.
As a whole, the tourism industry is a critical component of Monroe County’s economy, generating $1.9 billion dollars annually in visitor-generated revenue and creating jobs for approximately four out of every ten workers in Monroe County. The City of Key Colony Beach Pickleball Court Project will very likely support additional visitor-generated revenue.
