Gartel's One of Kind Mixed Media Art
The ADEPT Public Relations team had the pleasure of watching renowned pioneer of the digital art movement, Laurence Gartel, complete two different mixed media pieces over the course of a few weeks. Gartel is widely known for his Art Cars and more recently as the Official Artist of the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
The pieces he created were commissioned to be on display at The Fort Lauderdale Auto Museum at the Dezer Collection, located adjacent to Xtreme Action Park and scheduled to open in the next few weeks.
Fitting in with the theme of Hollywood cars and vintage antiques, Gartel created a “Psychedelic Stella Scooter” which the Artist describes as a “Universe of Planets and stars.” The Scooter is comprised mostly of circular orbs and glistening stones. Each circle is a computer-generated design even when they are monochromatic.
As with every Gartel work, the concepts are unique and there will never be another one like it.
Gartel was also asked to produce an enormous Buddha, which he was motivated and inspired to create a mixed media work. The “coat” of the statue for instance was adorned with duck tape and prismatic materials, while the body was painted along with the base. Gartel suggests that the use of various materials gives the piece a more dynamic prominence.
